Fmr Navy SEAL Advises How to Respond to an Active Shooting

Former Navy SEAL and FBI Agent Jonathan Gilliam appeared on The Kelly File to respond to comments made by Dr Ben Carson about how one should react in an active shooter situation. Carson has been under fire for suggesting people in an active shooter situation should rush an attacker

‘I would not just stand there and let him shoot me. I would say “hey guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me but he can’t get us all.”‘

Gilliam told Megyn Kelly he agreed with Carson finding nothing insensitive with the comment. He advised that people need to be reactive and fight back instead of cowering in a corner. He like other security experts suggests people need to be aware of their surroundings, know exits and to have a mental plan of what to do should a crisis arise. This is also referred to as having a “Tactical Mindset” as it will mean the difference between life and death.

With the rise of lone wolf terrorism, threats from ISIS and other radical groups it is better to be prepared rather than wishing you had! Prepare for the worst hope for the best.
