Brevard County, FL Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted this video following the recent shooting in Orlando warning citizens that the time has come for people to arm themselves in case of an attack.
“Folks, now more than ever is the time for our citizens to be prepared to serve as the first line of defense, not only for them, but for their families when the attack happens.”
That statement he made is very important to hear, but more importantly understand. Why? Because the truth of it is, we the people are the “first line of defense”/ first responders! Whether it’s an accident, fire, health emergency or God forbid an active shooting or worse a terror attack, citizens are the first to respond.
In light of the Pulse night club attack last year and low-tech terror attacks we’re seeing overseas it’s just a matter of time until we see more violence on the streets of America. If you’ve ever had to call 911 for help you know how long it takes for help to arrive. If you or your family are in danger the police are 8-12 minutes away. Most attacks, including the recent London attack, occur in under that time frame. Yes, police did get on scene to kill the terrorists but that’s after terrorists killed and injured people.
It’s better to be prepared and never have to use a weapon vs being a victim.
